Stormers loose forward Deon Fourie says he cannot wait to get back between the four lines and enjoy a certain special feeling again.
“I can’t help but feel that we left a little bit out on the field last season when we lost he Currie Cup final against the Sharks,” Fourie tells MyPlayers in an exclusive interview. “So you can imagine that we are very eager to get back on the field to try and get ourselves in a similar position.
“It’s a special feeling playing in games like that and for a lot of our guys it doesn’t get any bigger than Super Rugby.
“We had so many positives to take out of last season, but it was one of mixed emotions to be honest. After playing so well at the end of Super Rugby and then going through the Currie Cup unbeaten only to stumble at the last hurdle was incredibly disappointing,
“I wouldn’t say I am desperate to make up for it necessarily, but I do want to be in that situation again as soon as possible. It’s something that drives us in preseason and I can see the hunger in the guys’ eyes to get on the field again. We have a special squad with a lot of talent players who are not scared to put in the hard work.
“That is something that makes me very excited,” he says.
The Stormers kick off their 2014 Super Rugby campaign against the Lions at Ellis Park on 22 February.
